Minaret crescent size guide
The most common mistake when buying a mosque crescent is the size. Too small and it disappears against the sky. Too large and it looks heavy and loads the minaret top. This guide explains how the size is chosen, and we can recommend a size for free from one photo of your minaret.

Three things decide the size
Minaret height
The total height of the minaret.
Top diameter
The diameter of the minaret top where the base sits.
Viewing distance
How far away people usually see the mosque from.
Starting points (final size after we see the photo)
| Building | Typical approach |
|---|---|
| Small prayer room | Small sizes from 1 metre |
| Neighbourhood mosque | Medium sizes based on minaret height |
| Large congregational mosque | Larger sizes seen from main roads |
| Domes | Based on dome diameter |
How to photograph your minaret
Stand far enough away to see the whole minaret from base to top, with the sun behind you. If possible include something of known height near the base, such as a door or a person. A phone photo is enough to start.

Frequently asked questions
Can you draw the crescent on my mosque photo?
Yes, so the committee can see the proportions before production.
Do you make sizes between the standard ones?
Yes, every crescent is made to the size your minaret needs, from 1 m to 15 m.
What is the largest crescent you make?
Up to 15 metres.
Can you size a crescent from drawings?
Yes, from drawings or the minaret top diameter.
Is the recommendation free?
Yes, with no obligation.
Common sizing mistakes
Choosing from a catalogue
A stock size picked from a list rarely matches a minaret built to its own design.
Ignoring the viewing distance
A mosque seen from a highway or square needs a larger crescent than one in a narrow street.
Forgetting the minaret tip
The base must fit the diameter of the minaret tip, or the crescent will look unbalanced and may tilt.
Matching nothing
When a mosque has a dome and a minaret, crescents of unrelated styles make the building look unfinished.
Minaret crescent or dome crescent: different sizing
A minaret crescent is sized mainly on the minaret height and the tip diameter, because it sits on a tall, slim shaft. A dome crescent is sized on the dome diameter and its height above the roof, because it sits on a wide curved mass.
That is why the same crescent can look right on a minaret and too small on a dome. For mosques with both, we size each piece separately and keep the same design and finish so they read as one set.
Whatever your case, one clear photo taken from the street, plus the approximate height, is enough for us to suggest a size. We confirm all dimensions before production.
